This spring break, we wanted to take a look at this much-needed, much-beloved time off through a local lens. To explore hidden gems and awesome experiences locals have always loved, plus some attractions and activities that are newer on the block.

Sound fun? We thought so. If you need some help getting started on your plan, we’ve enlisted Central Florida travel enthusiast, mom of four, and local influencer Aseky Bonnaire to take a spring break staycation in Kissimmee. Read on to learn more about their itinerary, and how to plan fun for the whole family!

Two knights jousting at Medieval Times

Knights compete for the highest honor, Defender of the Realm

Day One

See Medieval Times Dinner & Tournament

Pack the car and check in to your home-away-from-home — your dream vacation home, that is. As the Vacation Home Capital of the World®, Kissimmee has some of the coolest and most unique houses, condos, villas, and Hollywood-style mansions you could ever dream of. Treat the kids (and kids at heart) to a house with its own movie theater or game room, or even its own lazy river!

If you want to stay in a six-bedroom house like the one Aseky and her family enjoyed, be sure to check out the Vacation Homes Collection and peruse their fabulous portfolio of properties. The Bonnaire family loved having a spacious home base with their own private pool to relax by after a busy day.

After you’ve settled in and made yourself at home, it’s showtime! Head to Medieval Times Dinner & Tournament. Here, you and your crew will enjoy dinner and a show at North America’s most popular dinner attraction. Travel back to the 11th century and embark on an unforgettable journey as you watch six knights compete to become champion in a tournament of jousting and epic sword fights, while you enjoy a four-course feast in true medieval, pre-silverware fashion and cheer your knight to victory.

The menu at this lively indoor-outdoor restaurant offers something for everyone—from mouth-watering burgers to fresh-rolled sushi, hand-tossed pizzas and gluten-free rice bowls.

Meanwhile, the unique “golden age of bowling” atmosphere offers a modern dining experience with retro style to “spare” — spanning two floors, five bars, a billiards area and 30 bowling lanes, often accompanied by live music.

Day Four

See Museum of Illusions

Morning

It’s the last day of your trip, but you’re in for plenty of fun yet! First, head to the master planned town of Celebration. Known for its architecture and famous for its nostalgic hometown flavor and elegance, it’s a destination that can’t be missed. The best way to explore? With Celebration Bike Rental, of course! Discover picturesque neighborhoods with world-class architecture and a vibrant downtown area. Take in the natural wildlife while on scenic winding trails and waterfront pathways.

After working up an appetite, it’s time to chow down at the Celebration Town Tavern. This comfortable, family-owned seafood and steak house is located across from the lakefront in downtown Celebration, and is a space where you can meet friends for happy hour, take the family for a day or night out, and is the perfect place to spend the afternoon watching football in front of the big screen. Pro tip: be sure to try out their $5 pineapple brunch mimosas; Aseky loved them!

Afternoon

One last stop on the itinerary, but don’t be fooled: we saved one of the best spots for last! One of Kissimmee’s newest attractions is the Museum of Illusions. With more than 50 exhibits, Museum of Illusions has more mind-twisting, eye-tricking fun under one roof than any other edutainment destination in Central Florida.

Explore the fascinating world of mental perception — and deception — at this must-see, must-share destination. The experience will fool your eyes, trick your mind, and teach you all about the amazing brain science behind the illusions. You’ll leave with a whole new appreciation for your awesome imagination! Roam the mind-blowing expanse of the Infinity Room, defy the laws of gravity in the Reverse Room, and shrink to miniature size in the Ames Room. This exciting new attraction is definitely Insta-worthy with lots of eye-catching photo spots.
