Home to Kissimmee, St. Cloud & So Much More

Founded in 1883 and made in 1971, Osceola County is a place rich in history and life. This 1,506-square-mile area serves as the south/central boundary of the Central Florida greater metropolitan area, with Kissimmee as the county seat. Osceola County was first established as a transportation hub in the late nineteenth century for riverboats and railroads. This began a cattle, sugar, and lumber-based economy. But all that changed with the arrival of Walt Disney World® Resort in 1971.

Since then, Kissimmee and Central Florida have evolved from a few roadside attractions into one of the top vacation destinations in the world. Tourism and hospitality are at the heart of this place we call home, and Experience Kissimmee is proud to have been helping people plan perfectly Whelmed vacations for more than 40 years. As our destination continues to grow, we’re excited to continue sharing the Kissimmee story around the world.

As the official tourism authority for Osceola County, Florida, Experience Kissimmee works closely with our community to inspire visitation to our sunny destination. With all the incredible things to do and see here, visitors can find the perfect balance of vacation chill and thrill.

Climate & Weather

The Sunshine State

If you’re planning a trip to Kissimmee, there are a few things you should know about our Florida climate and weather. The winter months generally provide the most pleasant temperatures, where the rainfall is low and even the cooler nights warm up into beautiful days. (But it’s still a good idea to pack a light jacket.)

As spring approaches, temperatures start to warm up. Though still on the pleasant side, rainfall does start to increase and temperatures can fluctuate.

The months of July through September are the rainy season in Central Florida. The temperatures can often rise into the 90’s and afternoon thundershowers are a common occurrence. Evenings can be on the pleasant side, especially if there is an afternoon rain. If visiting Kissimmee in the summer, be sure to pack lightweight clothing and items to protect you from the sun and rain.

As fall approaches the average temperature and rainfall start to decrease. On any given day, it can be hot enough for a day basking in the sun or cool enough for a light-weight jacket.

No matter what time of year, it is recommended you always wear sunscreen when enjoying our Florida sun.
