Non-Traditional Theme Parks for Families on a Budget
If you're on a budget, you can still find plenty of big thrills, fun entertainment, and happy moments in our sunny destination.
It’s true that Central Florida is known for its world-famous theme parks, but did you know there are other parks in the area? If your family is on a budget and still want those unique moments in our sunny destination, here’s a list of spots we suggest!
Disney Springs
Looking to immerse yourself in the magic of Walt Disney World Resort without the price tag? Disney Springs is an outdoor entertainment district with plenty of sparkle throughout. From Disney owned stores to brand names you know and love, you can shop ‘till you drop. Or, you can experience unique dining that caters to everyone in your family. There are even a few attractions such as Aerophile, the hot air balloon and the vintage amphicar.
World of Disney is the flagship store loaded with plush toys, spirit jerseys, Disney-themed home décor, and more. Disney Pin Traders is the place to be if you have pins to trade or are looking for that unique souvenir to add to your collection. Disney’s Days of Christmas offers year-round cheer with Christmas ornaments and decorations. And that’s just to name a few! Once you’ve shopped up an appetite, head to Enzo’s Hideaway, Jaleo by Jose Andres, or T-REX for unforgettable meals.
Wild Florida
Here in Central Florida, we consider Wild Florida to be an incredibly unique theme park. This outdoor adventure park is perfect for days you and the family want to get out and be one with nature. Hop on an airboat and tour the Headwaters of the Florida Everglades, spot exotic animals during a drive-thru safari, and hug a fuzzy sloth.
With so many different animals to spot and things to do, it’s a true Kissimmee experience.
Universal CityWalk
At the Epicenter of Awesome, your whole family can experience Universal Orlando Resort at Universal CityWalk. Explore themed dining options, bright entertainment, shopping, and more.
When it comes to dining, you’ll find some of the most unique options around all within one entertainment district.
Bigfire, NBC Sports Grill & Brew, Toothsome Chocolate Emporium and Savory Feast Kitchen, and Jimmy Buffett’s Margaritaville are just a few cuisine sensations that you can feast on. For those wanting to bring the perfect Universal souvenir home, the Universal Studios Store is located at CityWalk before entering any parks. There are also booths around the area with plenty of plushes and toys to bring back home.
Old Town Kissimmee
Old Town Kissimmee is the place to be for families trying to fit in fun, food, and entertainment all at once. You can experience live entertainment on the main stage, nightly events including the classic and muscle car shows, and several small rides for the little ones.
Also, it’s an ideal spot to try different cuisine like Shoney’s, A&W Restaurant, and Flippers Pizzeria. Old Town even has a year-round haunted house and magic shows. One of the best parts? Admission is free!
Fun Spot America – Kissimmee
Right next to Old Town is the family-friendly theme park Fun Spot America – Kissimmee. Challenge your family to classic carnival games, ride the only wooden roller coaster in Florida that goes upside down, soar over the park on the world’s tallest skycoaster, and so much more. You can choose to purchase a day pass or tickets for each ride. From classic go karts to unique rides, this attraction is one that can’t be missed.
