The House That Freedoms Built

Explore the history and enduring legacy of colonialism in the Caribbean through The House That Freedoms Built, an outdoor installation by artist La Vaughn Belle on the Rollins College campus. Featuring three white, pitched-roof structures inspired by 18th-century homes built by formerly enslaved people of St. Croix, the work invites reflection on how ideas of home, belonging, and freedom are constructed.

Being Outdoors: Recreation in the American Imagination

Presented on the occasion of the United States' Semiquincentennial, this exhibition celebrates the nation’s 250th anniversary by highlighting the strong connections between outdoor recreational activities and American identity. It explores how artists have visually shaped American ideas of nature, recreation, community, and belonging. Featuring paintings and prints from the 19th to the 21st centuries, Being Outdoors examines the relationship with the outdoors across various contexts — from fishing and picnicking to ice skating and tourism.

The Captivating Unknown: Charting Our Relationship with the Cosmos

For centuries, civilizations have been fascinated by what lies beyond human perception, oftentimes looking to the stars and the sky for answers. This exploration of the otherworldly frequently coincides with an internal reflection of the limits within human knowledge and understanding. With distinct visual narratives, the works in this exhibition blur the lines between the physical and the immaterial, presenting unique perspectives on personal experiences and interpretations of reality.

Pathways 2026: The Carlos Malamud Prize

This exhibition is the result of a collaborative partnership between RMA and the UCF Art Gallery to celebrate and support emerging professional artists working in Florida. Juried by an external panel of three professionals from various areas of the art world, the exhibition features work by a select group of artists with diverse practices. The selection includes a variety of media, themes, scales, and approaches, showing a wide breadth of perspectives and experiences.

“I remember when...” Reflections from the RMA Staff

Objects and images hold memories; they act as references for lived experiences and carry multiple meanings, both those inscribed by the artist and those we interpret as viewers. The act of remembering is mediated by anecdotes, associations, and evocations, allowing artworks to function simultaneously as cultural documents and deeply personal expressions. Selected by the staff of the Rollins Museum of Art, this exhibition presents works from the permanent collection that explore memory and storytelling across a wide range of media and themes.
