It’s true what they say: the best things in life are free, and here in Kissimmee, we couldn’t agree more.

Beyond the world-famous theme parks, you’ll find free attractions and activities that are perfect for families, couples, and solo adventurers. Here are some of the best ways to experience Kissimmee on a budget while still making priceless memories.

Car Shows at Old Town Kissimmee

Admission is free at Old Town Kissimmee, as are many of the events that draw crowds. Chief among them are the legendary car shows and cruises. Engines rev for the Friday Night Muscle Car Show & Cruise, and nostalgia fills the air for the Saturday Night Classic Car Show & Cruise, America's longest-running weekly car show and cruise. You never know which vintage beauties or tricked-out rides will roll in, but you can bet they’ll be show-stoppers.

After the cruise, head to Old Town’s main stage for live music that keeps the energy high. It's the perfect way to cap off a night of free fun.

Lakefront Fun

Enjoy the great outdoors at Kissimmee Lakefront Park. In this massive park along the north shore of Lake Tohopekaliga in Downtown Kissimmee, you’ll find two distinct playgrounds, 15 pavilions, a fishing pier, a concession stand, a fishing tournament area, a splash pad, 475 feet of boardwalks, a marina and bait shop, and 52 floating docks.

We weren’t kidding when we said there was a lot to do!

While you’re here, visit the Monument of States, a symbol of American unity built using materials sent from all 50 states. And right around the corner from Lakefront Park, you’ll find the Bataan-Corregidor Memorial. With the inscription "A Tribute to Courage," this powerful sculpture honors the American and Filipino soldiers who fought together in the final battles for the Philippines during WWII.

Experience the Natural Side of Disney

If a nature walk is your idea of a good (free!) time, you’ll love being among the native animals and plants that call the Disney Wilderness Preserve home, as this hidden gem and its acres of restored wetlands are an essential part of Florida’s ecosystem.

While hiking the preserve's trails — there are 1/2-mile, 2.5-mile, and 6-mile loops — be on the lookout for gopher tortoises, bald eagles, sandhill cranes, and more. Even the elusive Florida panther has been spotted here.

Learn Local History

If you’re a history enthusiast looking to explore our region’s rich past, stop by the Osceola County Welcome Center & History Museum to learn about the connections between the area's history and nature. The museum highlights the origins of the local citrus and cattle industries, as well as its early forays into tourism.

Once you’ve explored the museum, you’re just a hop, skip, and a jump (back in time!) from Pioneer Village at Shingle Creek. This permanent collection of authentic structures tells the stories of Osceola County’s early settlers. Make your way through original pioneer homes and a general store, schoolhouse, blacksmith shop, and more to experience Kissimmee life from a bygone era.

Celebrate in Celebration

Strolling through Celebration Town Center is the perfect way to spend your day — and it doesn't require any spending. As you travel the brick-lined streets, you can stop into unique shops for browsing, then take a seat and relax by the Celebration fountain, or hang out in Water Street Park.

For something a little more active, hop on a bike, put the pedals to the metal, and ride to the wide promenade that winds its way along Lake Rianhard. Beautiful views, friendly faces, and a little bit of exercise? Sounds like a great outing!

Do a Little Window Shopping

Just because you’re interested in saving a few bucks doesn’t mean you can’t browse, especially with so many shopping options in Kissimmee.

You’ll find Central Florida’s largest shopping mall, The Florida Mall, near Kissimmee, with more than 250 retail, dining, and entertainment options, including favorites like Primark, Zara, and American Girl. Other favorites include the luxurious Mall at Millenia, with Balenciaga to Versace, and Orlando Vineland Premium Outlets, an upscale outlet mall with designer-name stores, sit-down dining, and even valet parking.

For one-of-a-kind shopping, visit Kissimmee Main Street for local, family-owned businesses known for their hospitality. Disney Springs and Universal CityWalk both offer the perfect blend of shopping, sights, and entertainment that are sure to put smiles on everyone’s faces.
