Created by legendary publishing genius Edward Bok, editor and publisher of the Ladies Home Journal from 1889 to 1919, the tower and gardens became one of central Florida's earliest tourist attractions. President Calvin Coolidge participated in the formal dedication ceremony on February 1, 1929.
