Pioneer Village is an open-air museum that tells the story of Osceola County’s early settlers in the late 1800s. Experience 3 original founding family homes representing a lower-class working family, a middle-class working ranch family in a cracker house, and an upper-class home with additional structures such as a detached kitchen for safety, a bunk house, & a packing house for income. The village itself is based on structures in the city of Narcoosee within that era.
There are four replicated buildings to wander through; St Peters Episcopal Church built in 1892, Narcoosee School built in 1886, H.E. Page Store built in 1890, and Narcoosee Train Depot, a part of the Sugar Belt Railway finished in 1889 that traveled from Kissimmee to Narcoosee. There is also a blacksmith shop, a Seminole camp, a cow camp, and a sugar cane mill on display, giving visitors the chance to experience what life was like for families in this area at that time. The museum is located within Shingle Creek Regional Park, which includes walking and biking trails, kayak rentals, picnic areas, a playground, and public restrooms.
