Downtown Kissimmee

Accredited with Distinction

Setting the bar for how a destination organization should lead, serve, and grow

What does it take to earn a top grade from the tourism industry's toughest reviewers? At Experience Kissimmee, it starts with doing the behind-the-scenes work right. Destinations International, the world's leading association for destination organizations, awards its Destination Marketing Accreditation Program (DMAP) seal to organizations that prove their strength through an in-depth evaluation of more than 100 standards.

Our latest reaccreditation came with Distinction, the program's top tier and an achievement shared by fewer than 1 in 10 accredited organizations. From how we plan and budget to how we study our visitors and shape our destination's future, every part of our operation earned high marks. As a non-profit trusted with public funds, we see this as more than a badge. It's a promise to our partners, our residents, and our visitors that the Big, Bold Heart of Florida is in capable, accountable hands.

What is DMAP?

DMAP gives stakeholders a clear signal that a destination organization has the right operations and controls in place to use its funds and resources wisely and effectively. To earn accreditation, organizations must meet a comprehensive set of industry standards covering finance, human resources, technology, sales, marketing, and more, all reviewed through an independent evaluation process.

Why We Aimed Higher

Our agreement with our county partners calls for us to meet DMAP’s core accreditation standards. We chose to go further. Earning accreditation with Distinction meant surpassing the minimum requirements, excelling in several areas, and meeting additional innovation criteria that help set the bar higher for destination organizations everywhere. It’s recognition that our programs and practices are helping push the boundaries of what accountability and effectiveness look like in our industry.

Our Accreditation Journey

  • 2016: First earned DMAP accreditation
  • 2020: Renewed accreditation
  • 2024: Fully reaccredited with Distinction. This means we went above and beyond the minimum standards, excelling in several standards, and meeting additional innovation criteria to help set the bar higher for the industry.
