The greens run red, white, and blue at Royal St. Cloud Golf Links

This American-style links course featuring TifEagle greens evokes the same legendary play style of Carnoustie, Turnberry, and St. Andrews. Rated the No. 1 Links Course in Orlando, Royal St. Cloud Golf Links brings the appealing links of the British Isles to the heart of Central Florida.

Royal St. Cloud Golf Links: Three Nines, One Regal Golf Club

Before you mark your scorecard, you’d do well to understand Royal St. Cloud Golf Links by the numbers. Offering three unique nine-hole courses across 400 acres of emerald-green fairways and silky-smooth greens, Royal St. Cloud challenges you to create, then conquer, the ultimate 18-hole course.

American flair elevates the 27 holes on Scottish-styled links, with each duo of courses totaling up to 7,400 yards and a 74.6 rating. The playful Par 5s allow you to recover from a bad shot or throw caution to the wind and go for it without fear. Strategic Par 4s make you pause and really consider how to make the most of every club in your bag.

The Par 3s? A devilish balance of risk and reward that’ll have you smiling, swearing, or both.

And, of course, there’s no other golf course in Osceola County where you can order “at the turn” food from a classic red British phone booth.

Red Side: Where “Paradise” is merely the name of a hole

You’ll need to drive, chip, putt, and pray to make it through the Red Side links course with as few mulligans as possible.

“Sheriff,” the 1st hole, plays by-the-book – don’t expect forgiveness from waterways on either side of this narrow hole. The 4th hole is only “Paradise” if you enjoy playing in the sand. “Bunker Alley” might as well be a course in the desert; with 29 sand traps, this 5th hole has more bunkers than Royal St. Cloud has holes.

The 8th hole, fittingly named “Rectangle,” is one of the few opportunities you’ll have to square away your scorecard before the 9th’s “Hidden Creek” tries to make all of your hard earned birdies disappear.

White Side: A “Desperate Journey” from tee box to “Hell”

While the Red Side had you hitting across the water, the White Side’s waterways adjacent to the greens gives you a false sense of security. One piece of advice: heed the names of the holes.

You’ll assume there’s no reason to fret the “Nervous” first hole, until you see the water around the putting green. Brent’s Bridge at the 5th tries to convince you that a birdie is easy, so long as you’re not hitting too short or too long straight into the drink.

Should you keep your scorecard dry and free of boogies by the time you get to “Hell” at the 8th, the only thing you’ll have to do to make par is avoid the water — and eight sand bunkers — leading from the fairway to the green on Hookenfacher’s Nose.

Blue Side: A lack of water hazards will still leave you high and dry

Four of the holes on the Blue Side are without water hazards, and with hole names like “Double Eagle” and “The Church,” you’ll be quick to thank the heavens for an “easy” course before you hit your first drive.

That is, until your cart comes to a stop at the “Devil’s Pocket.”

Getting around the liquid centerpiece of the 1st does nothing to strengthen your confidence as you play through onto the tree-lined “Gauntlet of Palms” and rocky “Volcano.” You’ll know your nine is nearly finished when you get to “Heart Lake” – its two water hazards, seven bunkers, and one long line of trees will have your heart rate rising.

The Golf Shop at Royal St. Cloud

You’ve got 27 chances to make par, but only one chance to look your best on the course. Visit The Golf Shop at Royal St. Cloud where you’ll find men’s, women’s, and junior’s clothing in the latest styles. The shop also carries accessories and equipment from the industry’s top manufacturers. Stop by the shop and get custom club fittings from their expert PGA club fitters and play your best on St. Cloud’s trio of links courses.

PGA Professional Golf Instruction

The best way to beat the heat in Central Florida is to putt for dough. Work on your clinch shots on the short-game area and putting green. No matter which of the four tee sets you feel comfortable on, a lesson from PGA Golf Professional Instructor Doug Holloway will sharpen your swing.

Lunch & Dinner at Royal St. Cloud Golf Links

If you thought the hole combinations were a tough decision to make, just wait until you see the menu at Stone Bridge Tavern. This restaurant and bar is open for lunch and dinner, offering great mid-day meals and ice cold evening beers.

Find a table on the breezy outdoor patio and order a plate of Cajun egg rolls for your foursome. The Tavern wings and backed French onion soup are local favorites, though a classic Tavern burger with USDA Choice Angus ground chuck and a secret sauce will never disappoint.
