Getting to Kissimmee

By Plane

Three airports serve the Kissimmee area. Most major airlines fly into Orlando International Airport (MCO), just 25 minutes from Kissimmee. Flying into MCO, you'll find a full range of non-stop domestic and international flights.

Kissimmee Gateway Airport (ISM), conveniently located to Highway 192 and Interstate 4, is the closest airport to the major theme parks and convention centers and offers prime access for those flying in on private or charter jets. Additional scheduled airline flights arrive at Orlando Sanford International Airport (SFB), less than an hour's travel time away.

By Car

Driving is one of the most popular ways to get to Kissimmee. The area is located at the crossroads of Florida's highway network, offering easy access via major highways. Roadways to know include:

  • West U.S. Highway 192 is Kissimmee’s primary tourist corridor. Brightly colored Guide Markers along the way make it easy to navigate.
  • Osceola Parkway (Toll Road 522) is a direct route into Walt Disney World® Resort.
  • Exit #242, #244, and #249 on Florida’s Turnpike provide easy access to and from Kissimmee.
  • Exit #64 on Interstate 4 provides easy access to and from Kissimmee.

By Bus

All aboard for your best trip ever! Kissimmee is a convenient stop for Greyhound. 

By Train

The Brightline high-speed rail system connecting Central Florida to South Florida is now open! Amtrak also provides rail service to Kissimmee as well as Orlando, Winter Park, and Sanford (a hub for the auto train). The Kissimmee station is the closest to Walt Disney World® Resort.

This may be a leap since space travel for the average visitor is years away, but Central Florida is certainly a portal to outer space thanks to Kennedy Space Center on Cape Canaveral, about an hour east of Kissimmee. Visit the Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex to learn all about space exploration and see spacecraft that have traveled the galaxy. Ask an expert there when they expect space travel to be commonplace.

Public Transportation

Public transportation and shuttles can quickly take you to the theme parks. LYNX, the public transportation system for Central Florida, offers a fleet of local buses with convenient routes and schedules. Many hotels and resorts offer free shuttle service as an amenity.

The area's LYNX buses are fully accessible, with hydraulic lifts for wheelchairs and restraining belts.
