It's like the old saying goes, the best things in life are free. And here in Kissimmee, we’re inclined to agree! In fact, we think you’ll be amazed at the free activities that you can enjoy throughout Kissimmee. Here are a few ideas to give you a sense of what you can do when you visit without spending a cent.

There’s Plenty of Fun to be Found at Old Town Kissimmee

Over at Old Town Kissimmee, admission is free. Not only that, so are a lot of their events — including their classic car shows and cruises. On Fridays, you can hear the hemis roar at the Friday Night Muscle Car Show, while Saturday night’s more than alright for the Saturday Nite Classic Car Show & Cruise. These are some of the most popular car cruises in the world, and you never know what amazing automobiles are going to show up and show off.

And for even more fun, stop by Old Town’s main stage after Saturday’s show for some of that old-time rock and roll (the kind of music that soothes the soul).

Living Large Lakeside

Grill out and enjoy the great outdoors at the Kissimmee Lakefront Park. This 18-acre property along the north shore of Lake Tohopekaliga in Downtown Kissimmee is full of free fun. You’ll find two distinct playgrounds, 15 pavilions, a fishing pier, a concession stand, a fishing tournament area, a splash pad, 475 feet of boardwalks, a marina and bait shop, and 52 floating docks.

We weren’t kidding when we said there was a lot to do!

While you’re here, be sure to pay a visit to the Monument of States — Kissimmee’s tribute to American exceptionalism. Built using materials from all 50 states, this monument shows that when America comes together, it’s capable of great things.

Right around the corner from the Lakefront Park, you’ll also find the Bataan-Corregidor Memorial’s A Tribute to Courage. This powerful sculpture is dedicated to the Americans and Filipinos who fought together in the Philippines during WWII.

Experience Kissimmee’s Natural Beauty

If a nature walk is your natural inclination, you’ll love being amongst the more than 1,000 species of plants and animals that call The Disney Wilderness Preserve home. This preserve features over 3,500 acres of restored wetlands — an essential part of Florida’s ecosystem.

These wetlands are known as “nature’s sponges” for their ability to capture rain, filter nutrients, and replenish our groundwater. Elsewhere throughout the 11,500-acre reserve, you might spot gopher tortoises, bald eagles, scrub-jays, and more – all compliments of Mother Nature.

Bring History to Life

If you’re a history buff hoping to explore our region’s rich past, stop by the Osceola County Welcome Center and History Museum. A collaboration between Osceola County and the Osceola County Historical Society, this museum explores the connection between nature and history in the area. It also highlights the origins of the local citrus and cattle industries, as well as transportation and early tourism.

Once you’ve explored the museum, you’re just a hop, skip, and a jump (back in time!) from Pioneer Village at Shingle Creek. This permanent collection of authentic structures tells the fascinating stories of Osceola County’s early settlers. While you’re here, make your way through original pioneer homes, a general store, schoolhouse, blacksmith shop, and more to experience Kissimmee life from a bygone era.

Celebrate in Celebration

Taking a stroll through Celebration Town Center with your family is the perfect way to spend your day. As you make your way along the beautiful brick-lined streets, you can stop and visit unique retail shops and restaurants.

Then, take a seat and relax by the Celebration Fountain, or hang out in Water Street Park. If you’d like something a little more active, hop on a bike, put the pedals to the metal, and ride to the wide promenade that winds its way along Lake Rianhard. Beautiful views, friendly faces, and a little bit of exercise? Sounds like a great outing!

Do a Little Window Shopping

Just because you’re interested in saving a few bucks doesn’t mean you can’t browse, especially with so many awesome shopping options in Kissimmee.

You’ll find Central Florida’s largest shopping mall (appropriately named The Florida Mall) here with more than 250 retail, dining, and entertainment options, including favorites like H&M, Zara, and American Girl.

You’ll also be in for a treat at plenty of one-of-a-kind shops along Kissimmee Main Street, many of which are family-owned and famous for their hospitality. And Disney Springs and Universal CityWalk both offer the perfect blend of shopping, sights, and entertainment that are sure to put smiles on everyone’s faces.
