What’s Coming to Kissimmee in 2022
Kissimmee, Fla. (December 2021) – A new year means more exciting adventures are coming to Kissimmee and Central Florida. Kissimmee is ready to welcome returning and first-time visitors to the destination in 2022, giving families experiences that could never be forgotten. From exciting events to new galactic adventures, here’s what visitors can expect in Kissimmee next year.
Vacations continue to require planning and preparation. With that in mind, Experience Kissimmee partnered with major healthcare system AdventHealth to provide a Safety Hub for all visitors. This planning tool allows visitors to explore resources and stay up-to-date with safety information before traveling.
Walt Disney World Resort
Walt Disney World Resort continues to celebrate its 50th anniversary, an 18-month event bringing new attractions, nighttime spectaculars, and other magical experiences. One of the most highly anticipated new experiences that will debut in 2022: Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind, Epcot’s first “other-world” attraction. The family-friendly adventure features a new storytelling coaster that rotates 360 degrees to focus guests on the action, including the first reverse launch on a Disney coaster.
SeaWorld Parks & Resorts
SeaWorld Orlando is debuting its first launch coaster this February. Ice Breaker will feature four airtime filled launches, both backward and forward, culminating in a reverse launch into the steepest vertical drop in Florida – a 93-foot-tall spike, with 100-degree angle. Aquatica Orlando is bringing an all-new water slide in spring 2022. Reed Plunge will have over 330 feet of fiberglass, showcasing to sliders a vibrant array of marine life in a new dynamic habitat.
LEGOLAND Florida Resort
Visitors will set sail in 2022 on LEGOLAND’s newest ride, Pirate River Quest. This attraction will take guests on a journey through murky waters to retrieve a lost treasure. LEGOLAND is also featuring a variety of events in 2022 – including PirateFest in January, LEGO NINJAGO Days in May, AWE-SUMMER in June and July, Heroes Weekend in September, Brick or Treat in October, and Holidays at LEGOLAND in November and December.
Peppa Pig Theme Park
This all-new theme park is set to open Feb. 24, 2022. Peppa Pig Theme Park will feature six rides, six themed playscapes, a water play area, and more. The theme park will open as a Certified Autism Center and offer accessible rides for wheelchairs.
Wild Florida Airboat, Gator Park & Drive-thru Safari
Two new very special heavy guests at coming to Wild Florida in 2022. Visitors can expect to see two rhinoceroses at the Drive-Thru Safari Park by spring. Wild Florida is also adding special celebrations for its visitors: Gator Week (May 23-28, 2022) and Sloth Day (Oct. 20, 2022).
Cirque Du Soleil’s Drawn to Life
Recently opened at Disney Springs, Drawn to Life is a first-of-its-kind creative collaboration between iconic memory-makers Cirque du Soleil and Disney, featuring 10 distinct acrobatic performances. The show is a live acrobatic journey telling the story of Julie, a determined girl who discovers an unexpected gift of unfinished animation, left by her Disney Animator father.
The Promenade at Sunset Walk is bringing exciting additions throughout 2022. New locations include Cowboy Chicken, Naples Soap Company, and BR 77 Brazilian Steak House.
Embassy Suites by Hilton-Orlando Sunset Walk
Coming to Sunset Walk in fall 2022, The new Embassy Suites-Orlando Sunset Walk will offer exceptional vacation condominiums featuring a sophisticated contemporary design and the finest in resort amenities. Among them, the Oasis Beach Club with a beach bar and grill, a fitness center, and an indoor/outdoor restaurant and lounge where guests can enjoy daily complimentary breakfast and happy hour.
Out to redefine the luxury hospitality space, Ette Hotel will feature a sophisticated look and feel with a focus on high-touch service and personalized experiences. Coming to Kissimmee in 2022, the hotel features 126 rooms with state-of-the-art amenities such as 24-hour, in-room dining, a spa, and a gym. Chef Akira Back brings his touch to “LIPA” rooftop lounge, and more.
Universal Orlando Resort
Universal’s Mardi Gras returns to Universal Orlando Resort in 2022, Feb. 5 through April 24. A family-friendly version of the iconic New Orleans celebration, this event features a nighttime parade and star-studded live concerts (both on select nights) – as well as authentic Cajun-style cuisine from New Orleans and additional dishes inspired by diverse tastes and flavors from around the world at locations throughout the park.
Silver Spurs Arena
Join the tradition by seeing the largest rodeo east of the Mississippi, the Silver Spurs Rodeo, happening Feb. 18-20, 2022, and June 3-4, 2022. Plus, enjoy the Silver Spurs Rodeo Parade in Downtown St. Cloud on Saturday, Feb. 12, 2022.
Promenade at Sunset Walk
On Jan. 23, 2022, Pets on the Promenade will return bigger than ever at Promenade at Sunset Walk. Guests can enter their furry friends in a Cutest Pet Contest, get pet portraits taken by a professional photographer, enjoy a “Yappy Hour” at various tenants, and shop a sidewalk sale of pet products. In spring 2022, the Promenade’s “Best of” Dining Festival will return.
