Kissimmee, Fla. (January 30, 2018) - Mike Varshavski, the New York-based doctor, philanthropist, and social media entrepreneur known by millions of fans and followers as Doctor Mike, has teamed up with Experience Kissimmee to remind everyone about the benefits of taking vacation—and why they should look to beautiful Kissimmee, Florida for their next break.

January 30 is National Plan for Vacation Day, and Experience Kissimmee—the Vacation Home Capital of the World®—is teaming up with Doctor Mike to share his video of why he chose to escape the cold and his busy work schedule with a vacation in beautiful, sunny Kissimmee. Doctor Mike is excited to share his story and speak about the health and wellness benefits of planning—and actually taking—your vacation.

“We’ve all got to work and pay bills, but a solid vacation and a relaxing—or exciting—break does wonders for your health and well-being,” said Doctor Mike. “People who plan a vacation are more likely to actually take one, and people who actually take one tend to feel better mentally and physically, have higher productivity and performance, a more positive attitude, and better relationships. It sounds obvious, but it’s bad for your health not to take vacation days you’ve earned!”

Kissimmee’s world-famous theme parks, accommodations, attractions, and natural wonders, plus its shopping, dining, and entertainment options make the perfect vacation destination.

“We wanted to give everyone a friendly reminder—in the form of some doctor’s orders—about the importance of taking a vacation, and why there’s nowhere better than beautiful, sunny Kissimmee,” said Experience Kissimmee President & CEO DT Minich.

The partnership will also include an appearance by Doctor Mike at Experience Kissimmee’s over-the-top interactive event in mid-February in Philadelphia. Details, time, and location will be revealed in early February.

Fast Facts:

Experience Kissimmee offers immediate access to world-famous theme parks, attractions, and natural wonders, plus incredible shopping, dining, and entertainment venues. We also boast over 50,000 places to stay, nearly 200 places to eat and drink, and over 1,200 things to do.

According to U.S. Travel Association’s Project: Time Off, every year, 54% of Americans fail to use all their time off, creating a stockpile of over 660 million unused vacation days. This cost the U.S. economy $236 billion in economic impact in 2016. For the first time in 15 years, though, vacation usage is rising. Employees reported using an average of 16.8 vacation days in 2016, up from 16.2 days the year before. We want to keep this trend moving.
