Kissimmee Sports Commission to bring four events to the destination, spring 2021

Kissimmee, Fla. (April 19, 2021) – Experience Kissimmee’s Kissimmee Sports Commission has proven the sports industry to be resilient throughout the COVID-19 pandemic.

In 2020, Kissimmee Sports Commission hosted big and small events within the destination – including American Youth Football and Cheer in December with more than 5,200 participants; National XBall League (paintball) in November with nearly 3,000 participants; and Major League Fishing in November with 75 participants, all being the top anglers in the world.

The team is off to a strong start in 2021 with 20 events held in the destination since Jan. 1. Here are more sporting events coming to Kissimmee this spring.

All Star Boxing
Date: April 24, 2021
Location: Osceola Heritage Park
Event Description: Featherweight World Title to be featured on ESPN as Emanuel “Vaquero” Navarrete defends his title against Christopher “Pitufo” Diaz. The title fight will be aired on ESPN and ESPN Deportes at 10 p.m. (EST).

NXL Paintball – Sunshine State Major
Date: April 30 – May 2, 2021
Location: Brown Ranch 
Event Description: NXL Paintball will host its national event in Kissimmee at Brown Ranch. This event will include some of the best paintball teams in the world, competing over a three-day period.

FHSAA Lacrosse State Championships
May 7-8, 2021
Location: Austin Tindall Sports Complex 
Event Description: FSHAA Lacrosse will host its boys and girls State Championships in Kissimmee. High schools from across the state will compete for a chance to win the state title.

American Youth Football – King of Spring Championship
Date: May 28-31, 2021
Location: Austin Tindall Sports Complex  
Event Description: AYF is hosting a spring youth football event at Austin Tindall Sports Complex. This event will bring in teams from different states across all divisions.

Between October 2020 and October 2021 – the organization’s fiscal year – the team is projecting a total of nearly 50,000 participants and 163,000 spectators.

“With such large figures in participants and spectators we expect to see about 227,000 room nights between October 2020 through June 2022 in our destination, among our vacation home and hotel resort partners,” said Kissimmee Sports Commission Executive Director John Poole. “We have seen such resilience in our industry and are proud to continue hosting safe events during this unprecedented time.”
