Experience Kissimmee Celebrates the Future of Travel for National Travel and Tourism Week
KISSIMMEE, Fla. – Future growth and success following the challenges of the past two years will be the focus of Experience Kissimmee’s planned activities during the 39th annual National Travel and Tourism Week (NTTW).
Celebrated during the first week of May (May 1 – 7), NTTW is the annual celebration of the contributions of the United States travel industry, and this year, the celebration will spotlight the critical role that travel will play in driving economic growth and building the path forward through the theme “Future of Travel.”
Experience Kissimmee, the official tourism authority for Osceola County, recognizes the value of tourism as the travel industry strengthens. As the largest industry in the county, tourism has brought in 9.2 million overnight visitors each year that include domestic and international leisure travelers; meeting, convention and business travelers; and group travelers, including sports teams and reunion attendees.
This amounts to:
- 5.3 billion annual economic impact
- $900 in total tax savings per household
- 45,000 tourism-supported jobs
- $3.8 billion in annual visitor spending
For 2022, the NTTW theme elevates how the travel industry can restore the workforce, help communities recover, foster sustainability, usher in new innovations and reconnect travelers in the U.S. and around the world.
To celebrate and continue enriching the lives of residents and supporting the community, Experience Kissimmee announced in April the return of the Tourism Enhancements Grants Program for the 2022 – 2023 fiscal year. The program offers funding assistance to nonprofit or local government businesses who develop stage and special events in Osceola County that increase revenue, promote tourism, and enhance the county’s appeal to visitors. The application period will begin May 2.
Also on May 2, Experience Kissimmee will once again join forces again with the Central Florida Hotel and Lodging Association again to receive a proclamation from Osceola County. On May 4th at ChampionsGate Golf Club, Experience Kissimmee will host its annual Golf Classic, a charity tournament where industry professionals and partners get the opportunity to network while raising money for a good cause. This year, the Golf Classic’s charity sponsor is Hope Partnership, a local initiative that provides different programs to end homelessness and poverty in Central Florida.
