5 Ways to Give Back this Holiday Season

Kissimmee, Fla. (Dec. 2, 2019)–Want to spread some holiday cheer in Osceola County? For locals and visitors, there are many ways to donate to the Kissimmee community. Here are five ways to give back during the holidays:

1. Provide a meal at one of Osceola’s soup kitchens or food pantries.

Anyone wanting to provide a meal to locals in need can donate food to or volunteer in one of Kissimmee’s food pantries or soup kitchens.

2. Give the gift of time to help elders and children.

On Dec. 13, Osceola Council on Aging will host a Senior Santa event – including a holiday meal, games and gifts. Volunteers are needed to help serve and hand out presents.

Throughout the whole season, volunteers are needed to deliver meals in part of the organization’s Meals on Wheels program, which provides the elderly with at-home meals.

3. Select an angel off Salvation Army’s Angel Trees.

Salvation Army’s Angel Trees will return this year to select locations. This personalized holiday assistance program features decorated trees with angel “ornaments,” featuring the age and size of a child in need. Anyone interested in purchasing a gift for the needy can select an angel, and shop for that child. Donations should be returned to the location of that Angel Tree.

Thousands of children benefit from Angel Trees. For many of them, their Angel Tree gift is the only present they will open on Christmas morning.

Proceeds from Osceola Arts’ craft fair benefit the crafters’ guild, as well as Osceola Arts’ programs and initiatives.
