What's New In Kissimmee

Even with our year-round sunshine, beautiful blue skies, and great weather, you can still feel that spring has really arrived in Kissimmee. Songbirds are singing, orange blossoms are blooming, and our alligators are moving with a little more pep in their step. Best of all, the days are now longer, so you’ll have more time to explore all the new things to do in Kissimmee this spring!

Visit a "New" Old Town

After two years of extensive renovations and expansions, Old Town Kissimmee had its grand reopening on April 6. Now you can enjoy a truly enhanced turn-of-the-century Florida experience, complete with new shops, restaurants, and musical performances. (Did we mention there’s even an 86-foot Ferris wheel imported from Italy?)

Sing along to karaoke on Tuesdays, or settle in for family movie night on Sundays. And, as always, marvel at Old Town’s classic car shows on Fridays and Saturdays.

Stroll Down Sesame Street

A childhood classic comes to life this spring, as we welcome the magic of Sesame Street to the neighborhood. Now open at SeaWorld® Orlando, visit Elmo’s window, Hooper’s store, and attractions like Abby’s Flower Tower, Big Bird’s Twirl ’N’ Whirl, and Cookie Monster’s Cookie Drop.

Move and march along with all your favorite neighbors at the Sesame Street Party Parade, SeaWorld Orlando’s first-ever parade. And on May 11, the entire family can go for a run, jog, or skip at the Inaugural Furry Friends Fun Run.

Stop & Smell the Roses

For the very best in captivating experiences and floral fun, head to the 2019 Epcot® International Flower & Garden Festival. Running until June 3 at Walt Disney World® Resort, the event features dozens of Disney-crafted topiaries, exhibits, and displays.

You can also rock it out at the Garden Rocks Concert series, try delicious dishes and specialty sips at outdoor kitchens, go on guided tours of Gardens of the World, and connect with nature at interactive play areas specifically designed for kids. The entire family will have a field day at this popular festival!

Drive, Dance, & Dash

Attention aspiring drivers! Learn what it takes to be a champion racer at Lightning McQueen’s Racing Academy. This high-octane show puts you in the middle of the Disney•Pixar Cars universe, and is just one of the latest attractions at Disney’s Hollywood Studios™

There’s also the new Disney Junior Dance Party, where you can dance with Mickey and Timon at a high-energy production that takes place several times a day. Or ride the Slinky Dog Dash coaster and make friends with Woody and Buzz Lightyear at the all-new Toy Story Land, where you’ll have “Lotso” chances to play, dine, and meet some real characters.

Say Olé to Spanish Food

The flavors of Spain meet the Sunshine State with the recent opening of Jaleo by José Andrés. This celebrity chef-owned brand that popularized tapas dining is the fifth location in the U.S., the first in Florida, and the largest location to date. It features an extensive menu of tapas reflecting the rich regional diversity of traditional and contemporary Spanish cuisine, as well as a premier selection of wines and sangrias.

For more information on this magnifico new addition to Kissimmee’s culinary line-up, be sure to read our food and drink blog article, New Spanish Restaurant Jaleo Opens at Disney Springs®.

Join the Circus

Lights, cameras, acrobats! There’s another grand reopening this spring with Cirque Theater. It features two new dinner shows, Cirque Magique and Cirque by Night, and both shows include interactive circus-style performances, magical acts, and multi-course meals. Cirque Magique is open at 4:30 p.m. Friday to Sunday, while Cirque by Night starts at 7:30 p.m. Friday to Sunday.
