What to Pack for Your Kissimmee Vacation

When planning a vacation, there’s a lot to think about! Where are you going to stay? What activities should you do with the kids? And what should you pack?!

While can help you answer all of your questions, we’ve made a quick reference guide on what you should pack when visiting Kissimmee. No matter what time of year it is, these must-have items should always be ready to go!

Sunglasses and Sunscreen

It’s the sunshine state after all! You need to pack sunglasses to protect your eyes and sunscreen to protect your skin from the sun. There are tons of outdoor adventures to experience and it’s best to be prepared for any type of weather. Although the palm trees offer some shade, the sun seeps through.

Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex is an indoor/outdoor complex with so many different activities to choose from. Learn about the pioneers of NASA’s early space programs at the Heroes & Legends exhibit, walk up to the Saturn V moon rocket of the Apollo era, take a stroll through the Rocket Garden, and experience a shuttle launch experience that simulates a real launch!

Orlando Tree Trek is a challenging, yet fun aerial obstacle course for both kids and adults. There are four increasingly difficult courses and if you finish each one, you’ll be greeted by a zip line.

Celebration Bike Rental offers bikes to rent around Celebration Town Center and nearby neighborhoods. It’s a wonderful way to enjoy the natural Florida scenery while exploring this quaint little town.

Sun Hats

Sun hats are a must-have to bring when visiting Central Florida. Whether you bring a baseball-style hat, a wide-brim sun hat, or a floppy adventure hat, you’ll need one for these adventures!

Gatorland not only is a walk in the gator park, it’s a full-on zip lining, off-roading, exhilarating time. You won’t want to lose any articles of clothing to the snappers so a secured hat will be your best bet.

Wild Florida is jampacked with nature-loving fun! This park features a Drive-Thru Safari, airboat rides, animal encounters, and so much more. Pack a wide-brim hat and it’s sure to hold on through all the terrain.

Boggy Creek Airboat Adventures features some incredible airboat tours on the Headwaters of the Everglades. You may be going fast through the water but this open-aired boat offers no shade so a hat is a must! Just do your best to not lose it to the alligators lurking below.

It’s a no brainer that Central Florida has plenty of places to cool off from the sunshine. Definitely grab a swimsuit and be prepared for a day swimming at your private vacation home pool, sliding down a water slide at your resort, or ready for a day at one of the area’s water parks.

Universal’s Volcano Bay has plenty of slides to choose from that’ll make you yell “cowabunga!” With a volcano as the featured landmark, you’ll really feel like you’re on island time.

Discovery Cove is an all-inclusive day resort featuring one-of-a-kind experiences such as swimming with dolphins, snorkeling with fish and rays, a unique underwater walking tour, and more. Plus, your food and drink are included in the ticketed price so you can fully relax all day long.

Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon Water Park is a great place to learn how to surf the waves at the wave pool, relax on the lazy river, slip n slide down family-style or single slides, and more for the whole family.

Disney’s Blizzard Beach Water Park features one of the tallest free-fall body slides in the world, a tike’s peak area for the little ones, Toboggan Racers, and many tube slides that everyone can enjoy.

Island H2O Live! is a water park with technological advancements that make your day in the water one of a kind. Everyone wears a wristband and scans in before sliding down these thrill rides, then your picture is taken and shared so you can keep the memory for a lifetime. Whether you rent a cabana, watch your little ones splash around the splash zone, or race down the slides, it’s an exciting day here.

Lightweight Jacket

Yes, the Florida heat is no joke, but temperatures can sometimes drop at night, and you’ll be thankful you brought a lightweight jacket. It’s also a nice to have when visiting some indoor restaurants and entertainment venues that like to crank up the AC.

ICON Park exhibits fun entertainment, more than 40 restaurants, incredible bars, and even amusement park rides. Experience Central Florida from above while on The Wheel, walk through Madame Tussauds Wax Museum, or take that perfect Instagram photo at Museum of Illusions. The possibilities are endless!

Old Town Kissimmee is a free walking district with shops, bars, restaurants, and unique entertainment every week. It’s home to the famous Saturday night classic car cruise and local spots you’ll feel right at home at. For dining, check out Southern Breeze, Shoney’s Kitchen and Bar, or Twisted Vine Winery & BBQ to make the night even more memorable.

Promenade at Sunset Walk features weekly live entertainment, many unique eateries, and souvenir shopping just for you. It’s an outdoor entertainment district just waiting to be explored!

Comfortable Shoes and Backpack

Walking around the theme parks all day is very exciting but it's always a good idea to wear comfortable shoes to make your day last even longer. And if you're packing water bottles, snacks, portable fans, and a rain jacket, a backpack is the best thing to bring to hold everything you'll need for the day!
