Top 10 Things To Do at Wild Florida

Imagine – you arrive in Kissimmee, Florida for your family vacation and you’re ready to explore the wild side. The warmth of the Florida sun comes down and you look for something to do that hits all the basis of an adventurous spot.

So, where can you have wind in your hair, thrills with live alligators, and relaxing moments with the whole family? Look no further than Wild Florida! Keep reading for the top 10 things to do here at this outdoor adventure park.

1. Daytime Airboat Ride

First thing’s first – experiencing Florida’s natural wonders right off the bat on an airboat ride sets the pace for the rest of the day. Glide through the water on this incredible boat with the wind in your hair and the headwaters to the Florida Everglades all around you. Spot wildlife such as alligators, different bird species, and more as you travel over the water.

2. Night Airboat Ride

While enjoying the airboat ride during the day is an amazing time, nighttime airboat rides offer a slightly different experience. These private tours of Florida’s nature are a truly unique moment where your family can watch the nightlife of the Everglades. More roaming gators and creatures come out to the surface and it’s definitely a sight to see.

3. Drive-Thru Safari

Take a break from the heat and drive thru the park’s safari! All you have to do is hop into your own vehicle and roam the trail of exotic animals. You’ll spot zebras, giraffes, and more wild animals from the safety (and AC) of your car.

4. Animal encounters

You may have been to a petting zoo, but these animal encounters take it to the next level! You can get up close and personal to several different animals, including sloths, alligators, ring-tailed lemurs, albino gator, porcupine, capybara, and tamandua. Albino alligators are one of the rarest animals roaming the world – there are only about 200! Their pink-white skin makes them susceptible to sunburns and their lack of camouflage puts them at a real disadvantage. And if you’ve never seen a capybara or tamandua before, you’ll learn so much about them when you visit!

5. Learn about Florida’s residents

Thinking about experiencing an animal encounter? Get to know a few facts about the animals before you go so you’ll be more acquainted!

  • Guy – the two-toed sloth
    • Favorite snack is corn
    • Uses a clay pot to cozy up in
    • Natural habitat is a tropical rainforest
    • Can live up to 20 years in the wild and more than 30 in human care
  • Crusher – the largest gator at Wild Florida
    • Favorite snack is chicken
    • Loves smashing pumpkins and watermelon
    • He’s over 65 years old
    • Natural habitat are freshwater rivers, lakes, swamps, and marshes
    • Can weigh from 200 to 500 pounds
  • Flurry – the baby albino gator
    • World’s only albino gator (along with his siblings) to hatch at a facility open to the public
    • There are only 12 recorded albino alligators living in human care
    • Can weigh from 200 to 500 pounds
    • Can live 35 to 50 years in the wild and 65 to 75 years in human care
    • Eats mainly fish, turtles, snacks, and small mammals

And those are just to name a few!

6. Alligator Park

Take advantage of the gator park where experts teach you about the more than 200 native and exotic species! From exploring habitats to learning about the heritage of these incredible creatures, this part of the park is perfect for everyone in your family.

7. Animal Shows

If you want to get an up-close look at these wild animals without actually being near them, check out the gator shows! Watch Wild Florida’s gator experts show off their skills with the animals and even get a peek at what their feeding time looks like.

8. Chomp House Grill

Is it time for a snack? The on-site restaurant is the perfect place to chow down on some tasty treats. Cool off with their signature Swamp Slushy or try the barbecue and burgers for a more sustainable meal. Enjoy your food out on a patio rocking chair, in the AC of the Cypress Ballroom, or under the shaded Gator Pavilion along Lake Cypress.

9. Giraffe feeding

You spotted them during the Drive-Thru Safari and now it’s time to feed them! These giraffes can’t wait for you to serve up their favorite snacks and the trained team member is happy to show you the ropes. Learn more about these beautiful animals and get the once-in-a-lifetime chance to be so close to them.

10. Explore with Your Family

Sometimes, it’s just nice to have a fun place to walk around and enjoy the company of your family. Take time to relax and be one with nature and your loved ones at Wild Florida. Pack a picnic lunch and eat it at the recreational area. Walk from the Macaw Aviary to the Florida Panther Exhibit. Watch your kids play around on the kids’ playground. There are plenty of off-the-beaten-path places to catch your breath before heading to one of the amazing attractions here.
