Kissimmee is Open for Vacations
Hello beautiful vacationers! As an organization in one of the United States’ most popular vacation destinations, we carefully monitored Hurricane Irma’s impact before, during, and after the storm to help inform the millions of travelers from around the world who visit, stay, and play in our destination each year. After a few days of closures at some of our attractions, we figured you’re due for an update!
Fortunately, the Kissimmee area did not sustain significant damage from Hurricane Irma, and the vast majority of our attractions and hospitality services are open and operating as normal.
The dedication of everyone in our strong tourism community has helped us get back to our favorite thing: making world-class vacations for visitors from around the world, sharing the same sunshine and hospitality we’ve been known for since 1971.
Back to our regularly scheduled fun
Here are some updates from the area:
Airports and theme parks
Flights have returned to normal at Orlando International Airport, and our world-famous theme parks, such as Magic Kingdom, Epcot, Hollywood Studios, Animal Kingdom, Universal Studios Florida, Islands of Adventure, and SeaWorld are open.
Places to stay
Our hotels, resorts, and vacation homes are open for business and can’t wait to welcome overnight guests. Book your stay now! Or browse thousands of lodgings of lodging options. Get some inspiration about how to live the celebrity lifestyle on your trip, or maybe just pick up a few great vacation home recipes from our bog.
What about water attractions?
While some of our natural attractions, such as Shingle Creek, have higher-than-usual water levels, the waters are receding – visit them with Marsh Landing Adventures on an airboat ride and see some of our famous alligators. For those seeking water slides and other aquatic thrills, Blizzard Beach, Typhoon Lagoon, SeaWorld, and Discovery Cove are all open and full of water park wonders. As the newly-opened Volcano Bay motto goes: Water is life. Life is joy.
Is it safe to come to Kissimmee now?
Yes! A big, resounding: yes! Power has been restored and our hospitality services will ensure you have an amazing (and comfortable) vacation.
Should you have a question or concern regarding a specific property or attraction, you can always get in touch with them directly via the phone numbers or email address provided in Things to Do and Places to Stay pages. How does Kissimmee look after Hurricane Irma?
As beautiful as ever, but we’ll let these photos taken over the last week do the talking for us.
Join our recent visitors.
As you can see, things are beautiful as ever here. We can’t wait for you to come visit and make memories, like dressing up and joining Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party, or spending a day in the surreal world of Pandora, before braving Universal’s Halloween Horror Nights, where you can star in all your favorite nightmares—like FX’s American Horror Story, or AMC’s The Walking Dead.
If Halloween adrenaline seeking isn’t your thing, maybe you’d prefer to sneak a taste of fall while it’s still warm enough to lounge out by the pool. Poolside pumpkin spice, anyone? Now there’s an alliteration we can get behind.
Epcot’s International Food and Wine Festival is open until November 13—a record-breaking 75 days of some of the best international treats all around the beautiful World Showcase Lagoon. Why not take a trip around the world while you’re in Kissimmee?
