As we’re all staying at home, it can be easy to feel stuck about what to do and how to help your community. Thankfully, there are plenty of ways you can reach out a hand (virtually, not physically, of course) and support the local businesses continuing to offer services and support during this time. Take a look at just a few ways to positively impact your community, and some of our Kissimmee partners as well.
Buy Gift Cards for a Later Date
Your family may have a favorite dinner spot that always makes for incredible food and the perfect atmosphere to get together. Since some of our restaurants are unfortunately closed right now or only offering takeout, why not buy gift cards for your future family outings? These local restaurants offer you a comfort away from your home, so what a thoughtful way to give them some comfort as well. Whether you use the gift cards in the future or give them as gifts, you’ll be doing your part in helping the community. So, look up your fam’s hot spot and see if they’re offering e-gift cards or are still open for to-go orders!
Share the Love with Reviews
That weekly family dinner at your beloved restaurant might be just what someone else is looking for when we can all go out again, too. Another way to spread the love is to write reviews for those local businesses. Have a favorite dish or enjoy the great service? Let the whole world know by writing reviews on that restaurant’s website, Google reviews, or other food review sites. You can also leave reviews for many other types of businesses during this time, even if they’re currently closed, to give them a boost for when they can welcome people back. This is an easy way to support businesses without leaving your house…or money leaving your wallet.

Support Through Local Volunteer Opportunities
Some local businesses are becoming true community leaders by their efforts during this time. Here in Kissimmee, to help aid hospitals and medical professionals around the world, Disney Parks, Experiences, and Products donated supplies like ponchos, masks, and food products. Osceola County came together as a collective effort to make accessing food safer and easier for local residents in need. They set up a drive-thru food pantry and it was a huge success!
If you’re looking for ways to volunteer from the safety of your home, you can always write cards for the elderly, offer your own expertise online to continue the creativity and passion in the area, or help the Community Hope Center serve families in need via their online Amazon list. Where there’s a will, there’s a way.
Get Involved with Their Social Media
Social media is one of the biggest ways businesses communicate with you. A great opportunity to share your favorite local spot is by interacting with them on your favorite social channels. First, simply give them a follow on Instagram, Facebook, YouTube, and even LinkedIn. Then, share or like their posts to show that you enjoy their content. Also, you can tag friends in their posts or comment what you love about their service! Finally, one of the best ways to connect with them is through posting a picture indulging in your favorite meal from them, a favorite memory there, or that amazing landscape picture you took from a while back.
Thank you for supporting and loving your local businesses, and for all the love you continue to show our sunny Kissimmee community. They work hard year-round to provide the best service to vacationers and their families while creating atmospheres of relaxation and fun.
