Fun Ideas for Family Time at Home

A day spent at home is meant to be enjoyable and relaxing. We know it can be easy to fall into routine and get too busy to enjoy the simple pleasures of your cozy at-home time, but there are plenty of things you can do with the family to take your days off from good to “I don’t want to go to bed!” Check out a few of these at-home ideas for your gang, and feel free to do a bit of daydreaming about staying in a Kissimmee vacation home while you’re at it!

Indoor Gaming Fun

Make special memories by pulling out classic board games or take turns with the controllers while playing interactive video games. You can test your family’s thinking skills with Monopoly or Clue, or expose everyone’s competitive side with a challenging game of Twister. You can even just break out a deck of cards and see who can build the best card house – just don’t let the dog anywhere near the tower!

Now in a Kissimmee vacation home, family games are taken to the next level. Imagine being able to walk into a two-level room filled with old crates and beams – and even an old car – for a game of at-home laser tag. Some homes are even equipped with obstacle courses, pool tables, full arcade rooms, and more.

Journey Around the Neighborhood

From drawing with chalk in the driveway to throwing a football out in the yard, being outside is a great way to refresh and burn off some energy while spending the day at home. Pump up the old bike tires and round up your family for a bike ride or challenge the kids to a game of tag. Sometimes all you need to do is get some fresh air to kickstart the excitement.

Going around the neighborhood at a Kissimmee vacation home…now that’s an adventure! Since you’ll be among some of the most beautiful homes in town, you and the fam can take the opportunity and explore! Grab a bike and create trails down the road. You may spot some wildlife off the peaceful streets such as different types of birds, squirrels, turtles, fish, and maybe even alligators. Remember the great outdoors is their home too, so always give them their space!

Cuddle Up and Just Be

Being together can also mean gathering together to watch a favorite movie or TV show. Does your family have a favorite weekly show to keep up with? Maybe you’re in the routine of putting out the blankets, popping popcorn, and prepping the at-home theater (a.k.a. the living room) for everyone. And if there’s not enough space for the whole crew, bean bag chairs and pillow forts are always great options.

At vacation homes, you’ll always have plenty of space for everyone for movie night. Whether the vacation home comes with a full-screen movie theater room or a massive living room TV, you’ll experience movies and shows like never before. Some homes even come with a popcorn machine! Plus, with streaming capabilities and movie collections, there’s never a shortage of things to watch.

Cook Something New

There’s something sweet about cooking for your family in your own home. It’s something the entire family can help with and be proud of. A night in can mean a dough-throwing contest with homemade pizza, some pancake-flipping fun while making the breakfast of champs, or singing the “Fruit Salad” song while making healthy snacks. Or for a bit of dessert delight, baking and decorating sugar cookies is always a delicious pastime. You can even make homemade frosting with powdered sugar, a bit of milk, and some food coloring to give plenty of options for your little bakers…or should we say artists.

Kissimmee vacation homes are equipped with dream kitchens for every taste and family size. With Sub-Zero refrigerators, stainless steel appliances, and plenty of pantry and counter space for everything, those dream kitchens on HGTV will get a run for their money with these offerings. You can even choose to order food by delivery or make a run to the nearby grocery stores to load up all the open cupboard space to feed those hungry little ones. You can explore many copy-cat recipes from some of the area’s most loved restaurants, or cook up your go-to family recipe that you know everyone will enjoy. Then picture sitting by the pool as the sun sets with the whole family eating together in the Florida sunshine. Because the sun is still shining here in Kissimmee.
