March 29th is Mom and Pop Business Owners Day. It’s a day honoring small business owners, who play a vital part in making communities unique.
In Kissimmee, our local restaurants are the heart and soul of the area. From causal family-operated cafes to upscale establishments, these spots serve up unforgettable fare.
Whether you’re here for Mom and Pop Business Owners Day or planning a trip, check out our favorite locally owned restaurants.
Avocado Mexican Grill
One of the newer restaurants in Celebration Town Center, Avocado Mexican Grill offers guests a flavor fiesta. Choose to sit inside or sip on icy margarita from the patio. The homemade salsa and smoking hot fajitas will knock your sombrero off.
- Avocado’s Sampler Alambre Mexican Apple Sangria
Broadway Pizza Bar
Swing by Broadway Pizza Bar for a New York-style slice (or two). Keep it traditional with a Pepperoni Lovers pie or break from the ordinary with an Island Chicken pizza featuring basil pesto, spinach, fetal and black olives. Don’t forget to check out the daily specials.

The Catfish Place
If you’re looking for a taste of old Florida, venture into The Catfish Place. Founded in 1973, the interior pays homage to Osceola County’s ranching history through murals and the occasional stuffed animal head. The menu boasts fresh native cuisine like frog legs, alligator, turtle and, of course, catfish caught daily from local lakes.
- Hush Puppies Fresh Catfish Florida Cracker Special
Celebration Town Tavern
The warm, relaxed atmosphere of a cozy tavern permeates this family-friendly dining spot and watering hole. The Celebration Town Tavern menu offers classic New England-inspired specialties. Wash it all down with a refreshing cold brew; there are 99 different beers to choose from.
- Clam Rolls Maine Lobster Roll Boston Scrod
Haiti-born, Florida-raised Chef Pouchon Savion opened Savion’s Place in 2012. Since, the restaurant has become a well-known hotspot in downtown Kissimmee. Chef Savion’s mix of Caribbean-inspired fare and modern American flavors were bold enough to be featured on the Cooking Channel show Emeril’s Florida.
- Lobster Bisque Jambalaya Pork Ribeye
Now that you know Kissimmee’s favorite “Mom and Pop” restaurants, show them some love this week! If you head out to any of these locally owned businesses, share a picture socially with #MyKissimmee.
