5 Activities for Fall Family Fun in Kissimmee

Here in Kissimmee, gourd things are on the horizon — we’re talking about fall! It’s the season when the days (and the lines) are shorter, the weather is cooler, and there’s so much to do, you won’t ever want to leaf. From festive traditions and foodie celebrations to frightful fun for everyone, here are five ideas for filling your vacation days with memories as colorful as autumn leaves.

Scream for Halloween!

With fall comes pumpkins, candy, costumes, and things that go bump in the night — and we have them all in Kissimmee. In fact, we get so excited about Halloween here that we start celebrating early and go a little late!

Beginning Aug. 16 and running on select nights through Nov. 1, Magic Kingdom® Park hosts Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party (where it’s all treats and no tricks). The park will be decked out in spooky décor and there will be parades, character greetings, trick-or-treating, and a dazzling new fireworks show.

Over at Universal Studios Florida, they’ll be celebrating Universal Orlando’s Halloween Horror Nights on select nights between Sept. 6 and Nov. 2. Billed as “The World’s Premier Halloween Event,” this year’s theme is dedicated to the 80s and features Stranger Things spooky mazes, creepy haunted houses, thrilling live entertainment, and special scare zones (for the bravest members of your family). Fair warning, though: Universal Orlando’s Halloween Horror Nights are recommended for children over the age of 13.

SeaWorld® Parks & Resorts™ Halloween Spooktacular is a delightful daytime event taking place on weekends from Sept. 21 to Oct. 27. The gang from Sesame Street stops by along with some special guests from under the sea. There will also be live shows and trick-or-treating throughout the park.

Get ready to build the perfect Halloween, brick by brick!

Ready to build your own spooky celebration this Halloween? Head over to LEGOLAND® Florida Resort for Brick or Treat on select nights between Oct. 5–27. Let your imagination run wild as you join in the fun with LEGO photo ops, Halloween-exclusive characters, awesome entertainment, and a walk along the Brick-or-Treat Trail!

Looking for more family frights outside of our world-famous theme parks? Go on a Kissimmee Ghost and History Tour for a closer look at the mysterious and scary side of our neck of the woods. Or head to Old Town Kissimmee and pay a visit to Mortem Manor — a famous haunted house that seems to get extra eerie this time of year!

And if you’d like the fall fun to continue when you head back to your vacation resort, Gaylord Palms Resort and Convention Center hosts Goblins & Giggles Getaway Weekends during select weekends in October. So pack your costumes and get ready for a ghoulishly good time!

An Oktoberfest Celebration in Celebration

Oktoberfest is the best!

Want to watch the autumn leaves fall to the ground (without having to rake them up)? Make your way to Celebration Town Center for their Oktoberfest Celebration, Oct. 18 and 19. Watch the season sweep in — complete with colorful leaves falling from the sky, live music, and pumpkin painting. Afterwards, take a stroll along the lakeside promenade and go for a hayride with the entire family.

Have an A-maze-ing Time at Partin Ranch

In search of a fun-filled fall day? Stop by the Partin Ranch Corn Maze, where a five-acre adventure awaits. With challenging twists and turns, the family needs to work together to make it through the maze — and if you’re traveling with younger kids, enjoy a special mini-maze just for them. The ranch also features a pumpkin patch, a corn cannon, hayrides, animal encounters, a kids’ zip line, and more. There’s no doubt about it — we fall for Partin Ranch every autumn and think you will, too!

This year marks the 24th anniversary of the Epcot® International Food & Wine Festival, and it’s shaping up to be the best yet! Taking place from Aug. 29–Nov.23, the festival features 30 unique food and beverage marketplaces from around the world that are sure to have your mouth watering. There will be cooking demonstrations, celebrity chefs sharing their secrets, flavors from distant lands, and workshops that will leave you feeling like a culinary master. There will even be cheese seminars (and there’s nothing cheesy about that!). Oh, and did we mention the special candy sushi for anyone in the family with a sweet tooth? Be sure to pack your appetite.

Visit a Galaxy Far, Far Away

This fall, young Padawans and old Jedi alike will feel the Force drawing them to Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, the brand-new land coming to Disney’s Hollywood Studios®. If you’re a Star Wars fan, this should be at the top of your fall itinerary. After all, where else can you do a smuggling mission on the Millennium Falcon, battle the First Order, find the droids you’ve been looking for, and create your very own custom lightsaber — all before lunch! And look what else we have here: the Creature Stall (complete with the galaxy’s coolest critters), Dok-Ondar’s Den of Antiquities, and the best dining this side of Naboo!

From Halloween festivities and foodie fantasies to space adventures and good old-fashioned family fun, you’re sure to fall in love with Kissimmee this autumn — so now’s the time to start planning!
