Mickey and Minnie's Runaway Railway and More at Walt Disney World Resort

We may be setting our clocks forward this weekend, but Walt Disney World Resort has already sprung this season to the next level with three exciting new additions. From aerial acrobatics at the new Cirque du Soleil show and delicious bar bites at City Works Eatery & Pour House, to Mickey and Minnie Mouse’s first-ever ride-through attraction coming to life, you’ll feel like you’re part of the action like never before.

Hop on the Train with Mickey Mouse and Pals

Nothing can stop us now…because Disney’s Hollywood Studios opened a brand-new ride! This one-of-a-kind attraction travels through a cartoon paradise with none other than Mickey and Minnie Mouse. Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway is an immersive, trackless ride that places you directly in Disney Television Animation’s Emmy Award-winning Mickey Mouse cartoon shorts.

Right in the center of Hollywood Studios, you’ll walk through the famous Chinese Theater and into an ornate showroom. Once inside, an extremely cute cartoon with your favorite pals will begin to play (and you won’t be able to get the very catchy tune out of your head!). However, when Goofy rolls up in his train, things may not go quite as planned and you may just be welcomed into the cartoon…literally.

You’ll hop into Goofy’s train and travel through the ride full of song, animation, and your favorite characters. Who, might you ask? Well, you’ll definitely see Mickey and Minnie Mouse. Engineer Goofy is one of the stars that will take you through the eventful ride. Daisy Duck is the proprietor of Daisy’s Dance Studio and will teach you some fancy dance moves. Donald Duck is his quacky self, and you’ll see him throughout the ride too, as well as some new characters including Chuuby – an adorable little bird created exclusively for the ride.

Nothing can stop us now!

Enjoy some twists (and we mean twisters) and turns into the land of cartoon. You’ll see different scenes from Mickey shows and may even spot hidden Mickeys throughout. Also, the Imagineers give nods to the previous ride that was housed in this attraction building, The Great Movie Ride, which can be seen throughout the experience (we’ll give you a hint – in the first land, you'll see the carousel from Mary Poppins!). Make sure to keep an eye out – they’re hard to find and the quickly-moving cart will make it tricky, but not impossible.

At the end of the ride, you’ll find Mickey, Minnie, and Pluto finally enjoying their day at the park. Goofy re-joins the fun and takes you back to reality and the real world. But that reality puts you right back in Hollywood Studios and there’s definitely more fun to be had!

Mickey Shorts for Everyone

Wanting more Mickey Mouse? Head to the newly imagined Mickey Shorts Theater that shows a one-of-a-kind animated short called Vacation Fun. This original short celebrates the true originals’ favorite vacation memories and even a new adventure. While you’re there, you can check out the chairs (spoiler alert: they look exactly like Mickey’s famous red and yellow shorts!). Once you head out of the theater, you can take your very own pictures in the same scenes you saw – just like Mickey and Minnie.

Drawn to Life

Cirque du Soleil teamed up with the Imagineers at Disney to create a beautiful story of artists – both on paper and in acrobatics. This brand-new show, Drawn to Life, brings the audience through these artists’ creative minds. You’ll be absolutely amazed at the precise movements of the dancers that sync with the classic Disney drawings and beautiful music you’ve come to know and love.

During the show, the audience is brought on a journey with Julie, a courageous girl who discovers a surprising gift left by her late father. This gift opens into an unfinished animated piece, and Julie has the ambition to complete the quest. On this journey, she’s guided by a pencil and together, they discover a world of dazzling choreography and acrobatic performances.

Let your imagination move through this exhilarating adventure on a stage transformed into a giant animation table. This experience truly takes you out of Disney Springs and right onto the desks of Disney Imagineers.

Let the Good Times Pour

Drawn to Life isn’t the only new thing coming to Disney Springs. Connected to the extremely fun NBA Experience, you’ll find a new eatery and pour house! City Works will be your new go-to spot for a unique game-viewing experience, gourmet cuisine, and a plethora of beer selections. Walk into this beautiful space with walls lined with massive TVs and windows that let in that Florida sunshine. Whatever your favorite seat, City Works has it: bar seating, booths, high tops, and outdoor tabletops.

With classic American fare and more than 90 local and global beers on tap (wow!), this indoor/outdoor space is a sports fan’s dream. And with brunch and happy hour offerings, you’ll have more than enough time to explore these eats.

Try these bites next time you’re in the area:

  • Mother’s Little Helper
  • Sweet Child O’Mine
  • Cajun Linguine
  • Impossible Burger
