The Fabled Courses

Where the grass is always greener

Any time of the year is tee time in Kissimmee, where championship-caliber courses await your game. Hit the links and experience golf designs by some of the world's most revered professionals. By Amy Nance

Celebration Golf Club

With greens surrounded by pine forests and wetlands, Celebration Golf Club is a testament to the area’s natural beauty. Players of all levels will embrace the challenges posed by the course’s tight, narrow fairways and hazards. The course is the final collaboration between Robert Trent Jones Sr. and Jr.

ChampionsGate

Play two totally different courses designed by Greg Norman at ChampionsGate at Omni Orlando Resort. The links-style International Course features long carries, while the lush National Course reflects classic American style. Both offer a formidable game.

Falcon’s Fire Golf Club

Known for its playability, Falcon’s Fire Golf Club is perfect for a competitive tournament or a relaxing round with friends. Golfers can choose from four sets of tees at this recently renovated Rees Jones-designed course.

Harmony Golf Preserve

See fawns, otters and other wildlife at Harmony Golf Preserve. Just about every hole on this 260-acre, artfully designed Johnny Miller course offers a risk/reward opportunity. Readers of Golf World selected it as one of the nation’s best.

Kissimmee Bay Country Club

Century-old oak trees and sandhill cranes create a tranquil scene at Kissimmee Bay Country Club. Designed by Lloyd Clifton, the course offers intriguing water hazards and was nominated as one of America’s Best New Courses by Golf Digest.

Mystic Dunes Golf Club

Carved from rolling orange groves and wetlands, Mystic Dunes Golf Club offers two distinctly different nines—the “low country” style front nine and the Scottish links style back nine. The course, designed by Gary Koch, offers par-4 holes that rival some of the longest seen in major championships.

Remington Golf Club

For a contemporary design, play a round at Remington Golf Club. With abundant water features and generous landing areas, you can play it safe—or go for broke. Golf Digest nominated it as a Best New Course. Remington also offers 9-hole games of FootGolf that combine the fun of soccer and golf for a fraction of the price of a traditional golf game ($12). Each player in a group of four tees off, then kicks the ball down the fairway (all obstacles are in play) to eventually sink it into a hole.

Reunion Resort

Reunion Resort carries the distinction as the only place in the world with signature designs by three of the greatest names in golf. Test your skills at the Jack Nicklaus Course; tee off at the scenic Arnold Palmer Course; or challenge the bunkers and undulating fairways of the Tom Watson Course, which made Golfweek’s 2013 list for Best Courses You Can Play.

Royal St. Cloud Golf Links

Prepare to use every club in your bag. This challenging course offers three nines—the British, the Scottish and the Irish—and features bunkers with names like Devil’s Pocket, which suggest what you’ll be facing. ?

Take a Swing at it

Tired of that annoying hook or slice that consistently sends you over par? The area is home to two top-notch golf academies that promise to better your score.

Perfect your swing at The David Leadbetter Golf Academy at ChampionsGate, which features a four-acre practice area. Choose from mini-schools and retreats to one-on-ones with Leadbetter. There’s even a golf psychologist on staff who can fine-tune your approach to the mental side of the game.

The Golf Academy at Celebration offers on-course instruction for every skill level. The New Golfers program is perfect for beginners, while the Junior Academy Program is tailored to children.
