Kissimmee On-The-Go Walt Disney World Resort FAQ

Walt Disney World Resort is welcoming guests back with open arms. Whether you’ve been dreaming of a Mickey pretzel, anxiously awaiting a ride on Space Mountain, missing the animals at Kilimanjaro Safaris, or craving a tasty trip around World Showcase, it’s finally time to grab those Mickey ears and return to “The Most Magical Place On Earth.” Since reopening, the parks have implemented CDC safety guidelines so you can feel great about returning to Main Street U.S.A. To help answer some of the most frequently asked questions about the new guidelines, keep reading.
Q: Where do you have to wear a mask?
A: Disney is taking extra measures to make sure all guests have a safe and magical experience in the parks. That’s why face masks must be worn by all guests ages 2 and up in all locations except when dining or swimming. You can remove the face covering while actively eating or drinking, but you must remain stationary. This is the safest way to enjoy your Mickey Premium Bar or turkey leg, anyways! At this time, neck gaiters, open-chin triangle bandanas, and coverings containing valves, mesh material, or holes of any kind cannot be considered proper face coverings. If you’re looking for that perfect mask, Disney has created signature masks featuring some of your favorite characters to match your park day outfit. Click here to check it out. They’re also available for purchase in the parks.
Q: What are the precautionary measures in public spaces throughout the parks?
A: For everyone’s safety, all high-traffic common areas are cleaned between each guest. Before arriving through the park gates, everyone will be temperature screened, which is why it’s important to only plan your vacation if everyone in your family is healthy and feeling great. There will also be limited seating at indoor restaurants and limited capacity at shopping locations. Physical barriers will be placed to protect both guests and cast members at various locations. For your safety and the safety of others, hand washing stations are placed throughout the park to keep safety top of mind.
Q: Are there restaurants open on property?
A: Select restaurants are currently open for mobile ordering and sit-down dining experiences. Most restaurants have scannable codes for menus which makes it easy for ordering dessert after your meal. Guests also have the chance to use this convenient technology to minimize contact at dining locations. From mobile ordering and digital menus to Mobile Dine Check-in, each location offers convenient and safe ways to enjoy the delicious flavors of the parks. So not to worry – your next Dole Whip is a mobile order away!
Q: How are cast members taking extras precautions?
A: All cast members undergo rigorous training before coming back to work. With daily temperature checks and health evaluations to enhanced cleaning protocols, they’re working diligently to ensure guests have the best experience while also keeping themselves safe. The cast members truly make the Disney Parks experience magical, and we’re happy to see they’re smiling faces (under their masks, of course) back!
Q: How does social distancing work in queue lines?
A: Social distancing guidelines require all guests to maintain several feet apart while waiting to ride their favorite attractions. That being said, each party must wait on the appropriate marker and can expect to see plexiglass separating lines in some queues. With fewer visitors allowed in the parks, the lines look longer than they seem simply due to the spacing between each party, but the wait times may be a bit less than you expect (Peter Pan’s Flight, anyone?).
Q: Are shows and character meet-and-greets currently open?
A: At this present time, all castle shows, parades, and firework shows are on hold. However, new experiences to engage with your beloved characters bring new memories and smiles for guests anxiously awaiting to meet their favorites. You can still wave and smile to the Disney Princesses and many more favorite characters from a distance, and perhaps even capture a selfie or two.
Q: Is there anything else new at the parks since the reopening?
A: Since you’ve been away, a few changes were made. Cinderella Castle had a makeover and is now pink! It glistens brighter than ever before and still makes for perfect photos. EPCOT Food & Wine Festival is blending with the floral arrangements from EPCOT Flower & Garden Festival. This festival is the longest in Walt Disney World history and blends the beautiful flowers with all the global delights. Topiaries and merchandise are still available in the pavilions and will soon incorporate treasures from the Food & Wine Festival.
Q: What is the current reservation process for booking a Walt Disney World Resort ticket?
A: So, what do you need to do to return to the Disney magic? Theme park attendance is now managed by the Disney Park Pass reservation system to promote safe social distancing. In order to enjoy a day at the park, both a reservation and valid admission for the same park on the same date are required for all guests ages 3 and up. The number of park days you can reserve is determined by which admission ticket you have and can all be made with the MyDisneyExperience app or online.
