Universal Orlando Resort is eager to invite you back to their parks. Both theme parks and Universal’s Volcano Bay water park are open for your enjoyment. The live action and adrenaline rushes await as you explore the park like never before. With upgraded technology to their mobile app, virtual line to hold your spot, enhanced cleaning throughout the park, and your favorite characters ready to welcome you back, Universal Orlando Resort is the place to be on your next vacation to Kissimmee.

Q: Where do you have to wear a mask?

A: Currently, all guests must wear a face covering at all times except when eating while stationary and on those attractions with a significant amount of water. Make sure your face covering isn’t a face shield, doesn’t have any exhaustion vales, and doesn’t include mesh material. These masks won’t be allowed when you enter the park so be prepared! You can, however, wear neck gaiters if you prefer. If you need a mask break, U-Rest areas are scattered throughout the park so you can temporarily remove your face covering. Ahhh, now you can smell the park air.

Q: What are the precautionary measures in public spaces throughout the parks?

A: Before even stepping out of your car, you’ll notice that the parking is staggered and socially distanced, so you have plenty of room to safely get out of your car. Also, you’ll be temperature checked to ensure your temperature is less than 100.4 degrees Fahrenheit when you arrive. While walking through the park, you’ll notice the staff’s enhanced cleaning and disinfection measures all over the park for everyone’s safety. This includes food locations, ride vehicles, and all other high-traffic areas. In case you forget your hand sanitizer, Universal has stations throughout the park for your convenience.

Q: How are the attractions be utilizing the safety guidelines?

A: There are social distancing guideline markers in each queue line to show where you and your family should stand. They’ve also expanded the Virtual Line experience through the Universal Orlando Resort app. It’s just like all the rides at Universal’s Volcano Bay with the wearable device, TapuTapu, except all on your phone. You can also choose to continue using the Universal Express Pass like normal which is a great option to make the most of your time. Some attractions are temporarily closed, but you can always check real-time updates while in the park here. As you may know, there are some rides that require 3-D glasses. With the new protocol, each pair of glasses will be disinfected between each guest and handed out by a team member, so you don’t have to worry about grabbing from a big bin!

It’s a great time to experience rides you’ve never been on before (or that have been your favorite). Hop on Hagrid’s Magical Creatures Motorbike Adventure or TRANSFORMERS: The Ride-3D for the thrill you’ve been dreaming of. And coming summer 2021 to Universal’s Islands of Adventure, a new, high-speed roller coaster called the Jurassic World VelociCoaster. Speed through the jungle and rise above the terrain as you dash through the raptor paddock.

Q: Are there restaurants open on property?

A: Yes! There are many restaurants currently open at Universal Studios Florida and Islands of Adventure. Some are only accepting walk ups so be sure to plan your day accordingly. You can always grab a bite at Lombard’s Seafood Grille, Mythos Restaurant, or Confisco Grille. Most restaurants at Universal CityWalk are taking reservations and you can visit here for a full list of open dining areas. If you haven’t checked out Bigfire or Hard Rock Cafe yet, you’ll have to make room for them on your list (and in your stomach!). If you’re in a hurry to get to your next ride, plan ahead by placing a mobile order in their app

Q: How are team members taking extras precautions?

A: Team members are required to follow proper CDC guidelines when working. Each team member will be temperature checked upon arrival, wear gloves when applicable, maintain cleanliness of high-traffic areas, and wear face masks during their shifts. When available, plexiglass will be placed between you and the team member during shopping experiences, food locations, and more. They want to keep you and your family safe while providing the best experience for you!

Q: Are shows and character meet-and-greets currently open?

A: As of now, the nighttime shows (like Universal Orlando’s Cinematic Celebration) are unavailable. Parades won’t run either, but you’ll see your favorite characters riding on floats at certain times during your stay. Although the characters will be six feet away, you can still interact with Scooby and the Gang, the Simpsons, Spongebob Squarepants, and Gru’s Minions – just to name a few.

Q: What are the additional safety rules at Universal’s Volcano Bay?

A: You’ll see that many of the protocols being followed in the parks are implemented at the water park as well. With limited capacity on attractions such as the rivers and pools, social distancing is definitely top of mind. For all multi-person raft rides, only one party will be allowed to ride together. You’ll also notice that pool chairs are spread apart in order to maintain six feet of distance. You and your family are required to continue wearing face masks while walking around the park, at restaurants and retail locations, and while entering and exiting the park. However, there’s no need to wear them on slides like the Krakatau Aqua Coaster and in the pools, including Waturi Beach. Please note, Volcano Bay will be closed November 2020 through March 2021 for its yearly maintenance.
