All Fall Family Fun in Kissimmee

Here in Kissimmee, gourd things are on the horizon — we’re talking about fall! It’s the season when the days (and the lines) are shorter, the weather is cooler, and there’s so much to do, you won’t ever want to leaf. From festive traditions and foodie celebrations to frightful fun for everyone, here are five ideas for filling your vacation days with memories as colorful as autumn leaves.

Scream for Halloween at the Theme Parks

With fall comes pumpkins, candy, costumes, and things that go bump in the night — and we have them all in Kissimmee. In fact, we get so excited about Halloween here that we start celebrating early and go a little late!

Beginning Aug. 12 and running on select nights through Oct. 31, Magic Kingdom Park hosts Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party (where it’s all treats and no tricks). The park will be decked out in spooky décor and there will be parades, character greetings, trick-or-treating, and a dazzling fireworks show.

Also, come by Disney Springs as they host a Wicked Cool Entertainment event from Oct. 25-31. The area is decked out with pumpkins, skeletons, and bats to place you in the spooky spirit. Teh event also features spirited skeleton stilt walkers, spooktacular merchandise, and Zombeats - a four-piece percussion ensemble that plays throughout the streets. Don't forget about all the boos and happy hours going on as well!

SeaWorld Parks & Resorts Howl-O-Scream is back for another year of haunted houses and heart-pounding thrills. From Sept. 9 to Oct. 31, visit the park for frights, coasters, and more.

Over at Universal Studios Florida, join the scaries at Universal Orlando’s Halloween Horror Nights on select nights between Sept. 6 and Oct.31. Billed as “The World’s Premier Halloween Event,” this year's event has six original houses that aren't based on existing properties. The other four include The Weeknd: After Hours Nightmare, The Horrows of Blumhouse, Universal Monsters: Legends Collide, and Halloween. Plus, catch thrilling live entertainment and special scare zones (for the bravest members of your family). Fair warning, though: Universal Orlando’s Halloween Horror Nights are recommended for children over the age of 13.

Ready to build your own spooky celebration this Halloween? Head over to LEGOLAND Floridafor Brick or Treat on select nights between Sept. 24 and Oct. 30. Let your imagination run loose as you join in the fun with LEGO photo ops, Halloween-exclusive characters, awesome entertainment, and a walk along the Brick-or-Treat Trail!

Looking for more family frights outside of our world-famous theme parks? Head to Old Town Kissimmee and pay a visit to Mortem Manor — a famous haunted house that seems to get extra eerie this time of year (it's also a year-round haunted house!). There's also free trick or treating, thriller dancers, and a costume contest. While you're there, stop by Fun Spot America - Kissimmee for seasonal Fright Bites, trick or treating every Saturday and Sunday in October and on Halloween night starting at 4 p.m.

Get Spooked at Kissimmee Resorts

And if you’d like the fall fun to continue when you get back to your resort, Gaylord Palms Resort and Convention Center hosts Goblins & Giggles during select weekends from Sept. 9 through Oct. 31. With 13 themed events, including monster dance parties, Ghoul School with interactive shows, and a Wicked Brew Spookeasy, you'll have a ghoulishly good time!

Encore Resort at Reunion is throwing a Stay A Spell: Broom & Breakfast where three vacation homes are decorated for the spooky season and you can spend the holidays there! From Sept. 1 - Nov. 1, the resort also has tons of Halloween-themed activities, including movie nights of family-friendly movies, spooky story times with a grinning ghost, scavenger hunt, take-home crafts, and an escape room!

Have an A-maze-ing Time at These Local Treats

Bell Family Farm and Apiary is hosting a Fall Festival on Sept. 24 from 10 a.m. - 3 p.m. Come visit for live music, food trucks, a bouncy castle, games, and more! Admission is free and it's a great opportunity to enjoy the day with family and friends.

In search of a fun-filled fall day? Stop by the Partin Ranch Corn Maze starting Oct. 8, where a five-acre adventure awaits. With challenging twists and turns, the family needs to work together to make it through the maze — and if you’re traveling with younger kids, enjoy a special mini-maze just for them. The ranch also features a pumpkin patch, a corn cannon, hayrides, animal encounters, a kids’ zip line, and more. There’s no doubt about it — we fall for Partin Ranch every autumn and think you will, too!

Gatorland is welcoming you back to another year of Gators, Ghost, and Goblins Oct. 15-30. Tons of activities are on the itinerary, including themed haunt zones, interactive characters, animal meet-and-greets, and the children's costume parade with treat bags! The best part? The event is free with park admission.

Scream n' Stream Drive-Thru Haunt is Florida's premiere drive-through haunted attraction and it's moving locations to The Florida Mall. This contactless event can be enjoyed by the whole family right from your own car. Go through seven horror movies while scare actors and special creepy effects surround the car. Before or after your experience, stop by The Lobby for exclusive merchandise and snacks, and to take selfies with scare actors!

An Oktoberfest Celebration

ICON Park is hosting an Oktoberfest from Sept. 16 through Oct. 3 with specialty beer, food, and entertainment on select nights. It's a great time to gather the family for a new tradition and experience some unique attractions while you're there.

Want to watch the autumn leaves fall to the ground (without having to rake them up)? Make your way to Celebration Town Center for their Oktoberfest Celebration, Oct. 21 and 22. Watch the season sweep in — complete with colorful leaves falling from the sky, live music, and pumpkin painting. Afterwards, take a stroll along the lakeside promenade and go for a hayride with the entire family.
