Foodies, Flowers, and International Flavors Abound in Spring

We have to admit, we love springtime in Kissimmee (but we love it here all year round). The weather starts to get warmer, the flowers begin to bloom, and there are plenty of festivals and fun for everyone to enjoy.

Throughout March, April, and May, the average high is approximately 82 degrees, while the average low is about 59. This makes for pleasant days and evenings and, on average, about 14 days of rain. This is the time of year you’ll probably want to bring along a light jacket just in case, but you’re sure to be comfortable.

If you have a green thumb, you’ll love the International Flower & Garden Festival at Epcot. There are many cool things budding up at this festival every year, including living sculptures, gorgeous gardens, and fantastic topiary displays inspired by your favorite Disney characters. So, who’s getting the horticultural treatment this year? Great question! Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, Goofy, Anna and Elsa, Buzz Lightyear, Kermit the Frog, Miss Piggy — and that’s just scratching the surface!

Looking for gardens beyond the big parks? Make your way to Bok Tower Gardens for the Spring Bloom Festival. Every year, you’ll see thousands of colorful azaleas, camellias, and other annual flowers here, plus it’s a wonderful spot to spend a day enjoying a relaxing stroll through the greenery.

Food lovers will also find spring festivals just for them, including the Seven Seas Food Festival at SeaWorld Orlando Parks & Resorts. This is the area’s largest annual food festival and the perfect opportunity to let your foodie flag fly!

Spring is Mardi Gras season, and you can bet Kissimmee loves to get in on the fun. Every year, Universal Orlando Resort hosts Mardi Gras, where you can enjoy fantastic floats, exciting street performers, and food from around the world. Oh, and did we mention beads? Because the beads are flying all festival long!

Wonderful weather mixed with an ever-blooming schedule of festivals? Spring might just be king here in Kissimmee.

Splish, Splash, Kissimmee Summers are a Blast

If the warmer weather is what you crave, then summer in Kissimmee is sure to be the place for you. Throughout June, July, August, and September, you can expect average high temperatures of around 89 degrees, with some days even creeping into the 90s. Average lows, on the other hand, are typically about 72 degrees. Summer is also Central Florida’s rainy season, making for lovely evenings after a nice afternoon shower.

Summer in Kissimmee is the time to cool off, which is why we love spending our warm days at the waterparks! Which waterparks? Well, all of them, of course! Over at Island H20 Live! you can race down slides, chill in the lazy river, and enjoy plenty of live entertainment poolside. Or, if you want to feel like a beach bum, there’s no better spot than Aquatica SeaWorld’s Waterpark. After all, where else will you find 84,000 square feet of sparkling sandy beaches in Central Florida (not to mention 42 unique rides, rivers, and lagoons)? If you’re looking for island vibes in the heart of Central Florida Universal’s Volcano Bay is the spot for you. Here, you can spend your day your way, whether that means unwinding in your own private, waterside cabana, or braving the Ko’okiri Body Plunge.

Want to go for a dip with some friends from under the sea? Make your way to Discovery Cove. This is an ideal place to spend the day swimming with dolphins, snorkeling with rays and thousands of tropical fish, or relaxing amongst rocky lagoons and winding rivers. If an unforgettable underwater encounter is on your list, this is definitely the place to be.

There’s no doubt about it, if warm weather is your favorite, you’ll definitely want some more summer in Kissimmee!

Fall Has It All

Fall is the time of year when many iconic seasonal events are in full swing here in Kissimmee. It’s also when you’ll start seeing less rain and cooler temperatures. Throughout October and November, the average high temperature is 79 degrees, while the average low can get down to about 58. That said, there are still plenty of opportunities for warm days lounging in the sun. The key is to pack great layering pieces in your luggage so you can warm up or chill out as you wish.

As we said, fall is a popular time for all the fantastic festivals, starting with the Epcot International Food & Wine Festival. This festival — which actually kicks off in the summer and runs through the fall — takes you on a foodie world tour with cuisine from all corners of the globe as well as entertainment, culinary demonstrations, and plenty of delicious fun for everyone!

If it’s a ghoulishly good time you’re after, there are all sorts of Halloween hootenannies that take place. Over at Disney’s Magic Kingdom Park, you’ll find Disney After Hours Boo Bash, which is an annual event featuring all your favorite characters dressed up in their Halloween best. There’s trick or treating, parades, fireworks, performances, and lots of candy.

If you’d rather something a little spookier, you’ll love Universal Orlando’s Halloween Horror Nights over at Universal Studios Florida. They take their Halloweening very seriously here, so that means plenty of haunted houses and scare zones waiting for you (and any other guest over the age of 13) throughout the park during this event. There are also spookily-themed attractions, food and drinks, and eerie entertainment.

Looking for even more (not too) terrifying things to do in the fall? Try SeaWorld Parks & Resorts Halloween Spooktacular — a daytime event that’s a real treat for the little ones. During this spooky seasonal event, the Sesame Street gang is always out and about, plus all kinds of opportunities to trick-or-treat throughout your day. Or make your way to the LEGOLAND Florida for Brick or Treat. This event builds anticipation for Halloween in the little ones every year. Where else can you see LEGO vampires, zombies, and mummies, all while taking a stroll down the Brick-or-Treat trail!

If you’re looking for a nice mix of weather and activities, fall might just be the perfect time to land here.

Winter is a Gift in Kissimmee

The average seasonal high throughout December, January, and February is around 74, while you’ll see an average low of between 50 and 51 degrees. That’s got to look pretty good, especially if you’re visiting from a snowy part of the world!

Of course, it’s not just the temperatures that have folks flocking to Kissimmee during the winter. It’s a special season for so many, and we certainly pull out all the stops to celebrate it right every year! “Yule” find events and beloved holiday traditions taking place throughout Walt Disney World Resort, including Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party at the Magic Kingdom and the Taste of Epcot International Festival of the Holidays at Epcot.

Universal Orlando Resortalso gets in on the fun with yearly holiday showcases at The Wizarding World of Harry Potter, Universal Studios Florida, and Universal’s Islands of Adventure. Oh, and if that’s not enough, check out the SeaWorld Christmas Celebration at SeaWorld Parks and Resorts, or the Holidays at LEGOLAND, complete with shimmering LEGO trees, toys, and appearances from “The big guy” himself!

One of our favorite things about winter here in Kissimmee is that it’s not just the theme parks that are filled with festive fun.
