Spring is finally here! And to any Disney vacationer, that means Epcot Flower and Garden Festival is upon us! Running March 1- May 29, the festival celebrates everything we love about the spring- fresh blooms, seasonal food, and sunny weather.

FRESH BLOOMS

This year, the festival will feature over 30 million blooms and nearly 100 festival topiaries. The welcome topiary garden stars Mickey, Minnie, Daisy, and Pluto dancing around a colorful maypole.

New to this year’s event is a 6’ tall Figment topiary and a brand-new Belle topiary that comes to life with sculpted facial features- similar to the details on the Ana and Elsa topiaries- and a yellow ball gown created from Joseph’s Coat and Creeping Jenny plants. A new garden can be found inside the Land Pavilion where you can get a close look at edible flowers, plants known for health benefits, and a “pollinator paradise” garden.

SEASONAL FOOD

Seared scallops, maple popcorn shakes, and lamb chops with blackberry gastrique are all on the menu at this year’s festival. Fifteen outdoor kitchens- that’s two more than last year!- with a total of 70 different beverage choices can be found throughout Future World and World Showcase.

If you’re looking to try something a little different, some suggestions include:

The Dragon Pearl from Lotus House in China- this drink combines beer, honey, cream and the crown jewels- tapioca pearls. It’s sweet, but light and the pearls make it different than any other drink you’ll find around the World Showcase

Crabless Cake from Urban Farm Eats in Showcase Plaza- an obvious choice for any vegetarian- crispy veggie slaw, Old Bay remoulade and lemon vinaigrette

Key Lime Tart from Florida Fresh between Morocco and France- topped with toasted meringue and a cute frosted butterfly cookie, this treat was the perfect balance of sweet and tangy!

SUNNY WEATHER

What’s not to love about Central Florida in the springtime? The Flower and Garden Festival gives you plenty of opportunities to soak in the sunshine. An updated “Cars” interactive play garden is themed Road to Florida 500 with new “Cruz” character topiary from the upcoming release of “Cars 3.”

The netted butterfly garden returns, allowing kids and adults alike to observe the fascinating metamorphosis of hundreds of beautiful butterflies.

The Garden Rocks concert series takes place in the open-air American Adventure pavilion stage. Artists will perform three shows per day from Friday through Monday. New acts this year include Simple Plan, Exposé, and Berlin featuring Terri Nunn.
